| Teppan-Yaki The Teppan-Yaki-kitchen (Teppan Yaki = hot table) was originally created in the beginning of the 18th century by Japanese immigrants to the United States of America to fight their homesickness. The Japanese, arriving in the New World, were used to quite a different kind of food and kitchen as they found there and so the homesickness was accompanied by the longing to well-known specialties. So they took all available ingredients from their new home and prepared them on a steel plate. Over the years, this kind of preparation was improved and also spread within Japan. Today, the teppan-cooking in our restaurants is one of the exiting events for the guest, who can watch the cook prepare the delicious dishes. Needless to say that we only use the best ingredients and raw materials. The Daitokai Dusseldorf is our oldest branch and was opened August 1973. |
